The physician behind the guidance
A board-certified pediatrician, educator, author, and the founder of DocVites, helping families find clear, thoughtful guidance through every stage of childhood.
Good questions deserve thoughtful answers. Families should leave a conversation knowing what matters and what to ask next.

A note from Dr. Tega
Care in the exam room. Guidance that travels with families beyond it.
Over more than 20 years of caring for children, I've heard many versions of the same question: Am I doing the right thing for my child? It comes up when a baby has a fever, when meals become a daily struggle, and when a teenager needs a different kind of support.
Families deserve explanations that are clear enough to use and honest about what depends on the individual child. My aim is to help parents understand the next reasonable step, recognize when to call their own clinician, and feel more confident asking questions.
That approach shapes my clinical work, the conversations on Ask Dr. Tega, and the Well-Child Journal I write for DocVites families. I hope this can be a place to learn, pause, and move forward with care.
With care, Dr. Fred Tega
What guides my work
Parents need more than a headline or a one-size-fits-all answer.
Age, medical history, growth, routines, and family circumstances all matter. Helpful advice begins with context.
Clear explanations help families weigh options, spot reliable information, and bring better questions to their own pediatrician.
Small, realistic steps can make a difference. The goal is guidance families can actually use in everyday life.

Dr. Tega is Medical Director and co-founder of PrimeCare Pediatrics in Newnan, Georgia, where he cares for children from newborns through the teen years. He earned his medical degree at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, then completed his pediatric internship and residency at the University of Missouri–Columbia, in the United States of America. His role at DocVites
Dr. Tega founded DocVites, a physician-founded line of children's nutrition for every stage from infancy through the teen years. As Founder and CEO, he brings the same standard he uses in practice: start with what a child actually needs, and be clear about what a product can and cannot do.
Dr. Tega's educational content is general guidance, not a recommendation to buy any product, and it does not replace individualized medical advice. For concerns about your child, talk with your own healthcare professional.
